Question from last week: [See graphic on left] City A is at the center of a high pressure center. City C is directly
south and is at the center of a low pressure system. What is the wind direction at city B which is located directly
between them?.

Answer: Winds will circulate clockwise out of the H (high) located at city A and will blow towards city C where
there is a L (low) pressure center. Winds always blow from high to low pressure. They will circulate counterclockwise
towards the center of city C. The rotation is due to the Coriolis effect. As indicated in the graphic (right), to an
observer at location B the winds would be from the northeast.
